Is aug summer in Turkey too hot and humid?

Was thinking of going turkey from mid aug till end aug. according to this weather website (http://www.weatherba...), Istanbul seems ok. ave max of 27C with humidity of 80+% in aug. However, some other websites say that it can go really hot till 40C in aug.

What are your experiences in Turkey like? Is it still bearable in aug?

Am thinking of going central turkey (ankara) and aegean region as well.

tx for any answer in advance.

I've read some of the replies to your question and couldn't help but interfere. Turkey in general is hot during August ie, 35 - 40 degrees tops. However, there is a pattern, upto 15th August is hot the second half generally going into a rainy season and could even cool down to 25 degrees. It will then start to get warmer mid September (30 - 35 degrees) then autumn starting early October.

Please rest assured, no matter how hot it is you know during the evening it will be pleasant and you will have trees to seek shelter. Hope you have a pleasant trip!! A turk in Qatar.

I am from Ankara I lived there for 8 years and the rest of my life passed at the aegean section of Turkey.

For Ankara the weather is quite hot during august between 30 and 38 degree but there is no humidity so night time can be even cold.

But for Aegean region the weather will be hotter than ankara and humidity is nearly 80% - 90% so be ready for sweating

:)

Have a nice trip

I am from Turkey. In summer most of the coastline areas will be hot and humid. Of course, it is no where close to Qatar in heat and humidity.

It is not unbearable. The hottest part will be the Southern Turkey (Antalya, Mugla, Izmir, Fethiye, Bodrum). The other areas (Istanbul, Ankara, Cappadocia) will be hot but not very humid. You should expect somewhat higher humidity in Istanbul. Places such as Bursa, Rize, Bolu, or anywhere that is closer to the Black sea will not be that hot.

I live in Turkey on the Aegean coast.

Yesterday was 40C in the shade but today it's ony about 34C. This year seem to be hotter than last year.

August in the holiday resorts on the Aegean is hectic as the majority of holidaymakers are Turkish although there are still many foreigners.

Antalya (on the Med) is notorious for high humidity.

It depends on you where you want to plan to go.If your plan to trip on the Mediterranian cost, such as Antalya and envoirement, yes. It is very very hot (Like Qatar) and humidity is very high.

I suggest everybody who have a plan to trip to there (by the way it is The Türkiye not Turkey)to go upper districts of Agean coasts. The Upper costs (Nortwest)of Turkey is the best season for this time of years.
