Winner of Indian award felicitated
Indian embassy charge de affaires Sanjiv Kohli has praised the contribution of leading doctor and entrepreneur Azad Moopen who was one of the recipients of the Indian government’s prestigious Pravasi Bharatiya Samman award this year.
Kohli hoped the honour would motivate others to take up similar challenges to help expatriates. He was speaking at reception on Tuesday organised by members of the Indian community.
The chairman of the UAE-headquartered Moopen’s Group of DM Health Care Private Limited has been in the GCC for 23 years and runs more than 80 clinics and pharmacies across the region.
The reception was attended by former presidents of the Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF) David John and Dr Mohan Thomas, its new chief Nilansghu Dey, Doha-based entrepreneur C K Menon, Indian Cultural Centre president K M Varghese and prominent humanitarian worker Abdul Khader Haji.
Menon said the award to Dr Moopen was a recognition of the efforts of Gulf expatriates.
Dr Thomas said the honour to Dr Moopen was an acknowledgement of a physician’s dream to make a healthy society by providing superior healthcare.
Dr Moopen said the honour would motivate him further to launch new initiatives.
Dey and Varghese also felicitated the award winner.
David John welcomed the gathering and Abdulla proposed a vote of thanks.
