Daig (food pot) a Day Project

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

The Current Economic Crisis in Pakistan due to terrorism, electricity and political instability, infact political immaturity of our politicians has created a situation where the country and countrymen need our support.

True that we are all professionals and family men and women and can only contribute and support our countrymen to our affordable limits, the graph of poverty stricken and below the poverty line people have risen as is known to all of you.

This is why one of my good friends Nabeel Pervez who is his self a landlord in personal capacity and officially a Professional Fundraiser and has over ten years of experience in the field, has got together a group of friends & family who have taken over responsibility to feed people below poverty line and have initiated "Daig a Day Project" (Daig means big food pot) that has the simplest philosophy of feeding the less fortunate children, men, women elderly and they do so by pooling and donating a Daig on alternative days, they have started this initiative from impoverished neighborhoods in Gujranwala and plan to expand to other cities as "Free Public Kitchens" for the less fortunate with increase of resources in future. Up-till now they have fed over 2000 hungry and destitute people in one month, and wish to enhance DAIG sponsors as they anticipate that during Ramadan they will be feeding Free(on Iftar) 1000 people on daily basis, so they require more support now.

The Cost of Daig is Rs.3000/- per daig and for more clearer picture you can also check out:

Let's all get together and support this initiative the more the merrier, this I feel we can atleast do for our country and countrymen as politicians are not bothered anyway about the plight of the less fortunate.

We could continue this project with our friends and family members but we don't want to personalize social welfare projects as our other people did. Social welfare project should run by and for the people. If we run it with our own resources, what will happen after our departures? So therefore we need y'all help.

Updates and News:

For more updates and news, plz visit the above mentioned Facebook's page. There is another very interesting news as well. Shahbaz Sharif (Chief Minister, Punjab) announced on 7th May, 2010 that they will start Free Langar-khanay (Free Food) in Gujranwala, Lahore and Multan with the help of wealthy people.

This news was very interesting for us because we never had an intentions to harm anyone politically. As per our reliable source, we came to know that some politicians from Gujranwala had complained to Shahbaz Sharif that someone is distributing free food in Gujranwala that could hurt our image in the town so they decided their own free food campaign. In fact, we are happy for this. If this created any type of pressure on government, we like to create more. So therefore now we have started Free Medical camps as well in Gujranwala. We are going to start this "Daig a Day Project" in Lahore as well very soon. Insha Allah!

Pray for us, Join with us.
