Ramadan Sports Festival events continue across Qatar

During Ramadan, several organisations across the country host sports events for their staff and the public. This year, too, numerous tournaments are ongoing around Qatar.
Ziad Rahim claimed the men’s squash title of the 11th Ramadan Sports Festival, defeating Ali Mansour 3-1 (12-10, 11-9, 5-11, 11-4) at the Aspire Academy on Tuesday.
The festival, organized by Aspire Zone Foundation, features nine events and will continue until March 18.
Meanwhile, the round of 16 football matches for embassies will begin on Wednesday and continue until March 18 at Stadium 4 in the Aspire Academy.
While the Syrian Embassy will meet the Tunisian Embassy, Malaysian Embassy will lock horns against the Jordanians. The Malian side will take on Algeria while Qatar will meet Somalia on the same day.
The round of 16 matches will be completed on Thursday with the Chadian Embassy facing their Spanish rivals and the Ethiopian Embassy facing Eritrea.
The Indian Embassy will play Kenya while the Bosnia and Herzegovina Embassy will face Indonesia.
The Women’s Football Championship will kick off today and will continue until March 15.
The four-day tournament will bring together teams from various local clubs and sports communities.
Meanwhile, the second edition of the Al Thumama Ramadan Football Tournament (for ages 10 to 14), organized by the Qatar Sports for All Federation (QSFA), is continuing at the Furjan Al Thumama Stadium.
Seven teams are participating in it — Palestine, Al Adham, Al Janoub, Al Nusour, Al Zaeem, Tariq bin Ziyad, and Al Yarmouk.
Al Adham continued their winning streak, extending their lead at the top with 15 points. They are now in a strong position to win the overall title, with a 2-1 win over Al Nusour. Omar Al Obaidly was awarded the Man of the Match award. Al Janoub’s match against Tariq bin Ziyad ended in a goalless draw. Al Janoub’s Mohammed Faisal Al Meer earned the Man of the Match award.
Al Nusour is in second place with seven points, while Palestine is third with five points.
The tournament will conclude on Sunday.
