Qatar unveils massive QR 210.2bn budget for 2025
The Ministry of Finance announced Qatar's general budget for 2025 during a press conferences yesterday, approved under law No. 20 of 2024 issued by Amir H.H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.
Minister of Finance H.E Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari presented the budget, revealing total expected revenues of QR197bn, including QR154bn from oil and gas and QR43bn from non-oil sources. The fiscal year anticipates a deficit of QR13.2bn, attributed to a conservative oil price estimate of $60 per barrel, aimed at maintaining financial flexibility.
Key sector allocations include :
Education - QR19.4bn for projects such as 11 new schools, including special needs institutions, and new buildings for the College of Dentistry and Nursing.
Health - QR22bn for hospital construction and facility upgrades under Hamad Medical Corporation and the Primary Health Care Corporation.
Municipality & Environment - QR21.9bn for wildlife protection, including rehabilitating Al Maha Wildlife Reserve and expanding the Aquatic Research Center.
Commercial Affairs - QR3.9bn for developing industrial and logistical infrastructure.
Transportation - Projects include Doha International Airport maintenance and enhancement at Qatar Aviation College.
Sports - Funds were allocated to upgrade the Aspire Zone and equestrian facilities, along with new sports halls.
The Public Works Authority (Ashgal) will issue tenders worth QR56.2bn in 2025, with additional tenders in health (QR7.5bn) and energy (QR7bn). The Minister urged stakeholders to participate actively in the projects shaping Qatar's development.
