Doha is set to host an extraordinary cultural event spanning four centuries of Dutch art.

From December 5 to January 5, 2025, Art Gallery Voute, in collaboration with the Dutch Embassy in Doha and esteemed sponsors, will proudly present the Dutch Art Exhibition at the iconic Mondrian Doha Hotel, whose interior was designed by Dutchman Marcel Wanders.

Location: Mondrian Doha Hotel
Date: December 5 to January 5, 2025
Time: 9am to 11pm (daily and by appointment). For group visits, contact Edwin Voute.

This once-in-a-lifetime showcase brings together works from 1624 to 2024, bridging history and modernity in a dazzling display of artistic excellence.

Step Into 400 Years of Dutch Artistry

Prepare to be captivated by 45 exceptional works of art, including 11 masterpieces from the Dutch Golden Age (17th century). Among the highlights are an authentic Rembrandt, a striking pendant piece by a pupil of Frans Hals, and an original Simon Luttichuys.

Visitors will also encounter the remarkable ‘Triple Mondrian Moment,’ featuring a rare Piet Mondrian from 1896 paired with RenE Jacobs’ modern tribute We Are Mondrian — an intricate creation composed of nearly 10,000 plastic figurines.

These treasures, displayed against the luxurious backdrop of the Mondrian Doha Hotel, promise an unforgettable experience.

From Timeless Classics to Contemporary Visionaries

Beyond the Golden Age, the exhibition embraces the future of Dutch art. Discover the thought-provoking sculptures of Chris Tap and Elise Coenen, the crystalline vases of Isaac Monte, and the abstract landscapes of Noah Voute, the youngest artist in the collection at 15 years old.

Works by modern icons such as Diet Wiegman, Jeffrey Burger, Anthon Hoornweg, and Mirage Photography will infuse the exhibition with contemporary flair, while Gerti Bierenbroodspot’s bronzes evoke timeless elegance.

Dutch Art: A Testament to Creativity and Innovation

The Dutch Golden Age was a period of unparalleled economic and cultural flourishing in the 17th century.

This era birthed groundbreaking artistic techniques and styles that continue to inspire collectors and artists worldwide. The wealth of Dutch merchants allowed artists to thrive, producing works that exuded technical precision and emotional depth — hallmarks of the Golden Age’s enduring legacy.

These innovations inspired generations of artists globally, cementing the Netherlands as a cornerstone of world art.

Today, Qatar mirrors this dynamic cultural investment. With its burgeoning art scene and commitment to fostering creativity, Qatar has emerged as a modern hub of artistic innovation.

Much like the Netherlands during its Golden Age, Qatar leverages its resources to elevate its global cultural stature, making it the perfect stage for this exhibition.

Building Bridges Through Art

Art has the power to connect people, inspire dialogue, and foster understanding. By showcasing Dutch masterpieces in Qatar, this exhibition aims to create a bridge between the cultural and business communities of both nations.

As Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani aptly states, “Culture is an important component to connect people… It’s a natural component for bringing people together and discussing ideas.”

Edwin Voute, owner of Art Gallery Voute, seeks to strengthen cultural ties between Qatar and the Netherlands by facilitating the exchange of art collections, artists, and educational visits.

His vision is to encourage idea-sharing and deepen mutual understanding between the two nations.
