An inspection campaign was led by the Health Monitoring Section at Doha Municipality at outlets selling sweets and nuts used to celebrate Garangao in Qatar.

A celebration that is unique to Qatar and the local region, the Garangao festival is celebrated on the 14th day of Ramadan.

The Ramadan tradition is widely celebrated by children and it marks the halfway point of fast during the holy month of Ramadan.

As part of the inspection campaign, the municipal inspectors have confiscated five kilograms of expired sweets and nuts so far. Moreover, the seized items were destroyed immediately and the violations were recorded.

The Health Monitoring Section at Doha Municipality made 1,433 inspection visits to food outlets across Doha and the Industrial Area from the beginning of Ramadan until now.

In addition to the recording of 65 violations, 10 food outlets were shut down by the inspectors for violating health rules during the inspection campaign.
