AlHosh Art Gallery showcases art portraying the 1991 Battle of Khafji
The Battle of Khafji is recognized as the first major ground engagement of the Gulf War. The event took place from January 29 till February 1 at the Khafji City in Saudi Arabia and marks the end of the coalition’s air campaign over Kuwait and Iraq.
Coalition aircraft and US artillery helped Saudi and Qatari forces during their attempt to retake control of the city.
The AlHosh Art Gallery is currently displaying the work of Qatari Artist, Maetha Al Khayarin, featuring archives and documents of Qatar’s recent political history.
More specifically, the exhibition places a large emphasis on the historic Battle of Khafki and is open to the public at Sikkat Wadi Msheireb.
The art gallery showcases a series of images that have been produced using cyan-blue print and infusing chemicals use to heal wounds.
Moreover, certain photos highlight the expansion of the Qatari Air Force and how it has contributed to the events that took place during the Gulf War.
The exhibition features various poems, furniture, and videos that aim to educate visitors through the incorporation of visual and sound artifacts.
Additionally, you can find a gift shop that features a variety of souvenirs that you can take home. You can also grab some snacks and drinks while touring the culture-rich art exhibition.
The AlHosh Art Gallery is open for your viewing pleasure until January 15 and it is advised that you wear a mask at all times.
