As Qatar gears up to enter Phase 3 of the lifting of restrictions after successfully flattening curve, the travel policy effective Saturday, August 1 has been reviewed based on public health indicators in Qatar and around the world.

Residents who are stuck abroad due to COVID-19 can apply for entry permits through the Qatar Portal website.

According to the information on the website, "Applications to get the permit can be submitted starting August 1, 2020."

Qatar Portal will accept applications for entry permits for employers, individuals or companies, government or private sectors, residents, and their family members holding QIDs. These permits would allow their return to the State of Qatar.

The employer shall bear the costs of the quarantine in the dedicated facilities for blue-collar workers in the private sector and domestic workers at a nominal cost after obtaining the entry permit.

There are two types of accounts - one for Qatar residents and citizens and another for visitors and business representatives.

For Qatar residents and citizens, one needs to enter the QID and a personal mobile number, while visitors have to enter the email and number before moving to the next step of adding personal details.

How to apply for Entry Permit?

Create new account on Qatar Portal or Log in to your existing account (if available).

Click on “Apply for Exceptional Entry Permit”.

Read terms and conditions and prepare all required attachments before starting the application.

Enter application page and fill in required information correctly and completely as shown in passport.

Enter your email correctly to receive approval on your application.

Print permit and keep copy of it and a copy of quarantine undertaking to be presented to airport official

The Ministry of Public Health has also identified the following categories eligible for home quarantine for a week, regardless of the country from which they arrived.

Arrivals to Qatar from low-risk countries are required to take a COVID-19 test upon arrival at the airport, and to sign a formal pledge to adhere to quarantine at home for a week, noting that the traveler’s status on the Ehteraz App will be yellow, which means that they are required to quarantine.

Workers in the various sectors are required to coordinate the dates of travel and return with their employers. Families and workers in the education sector must take the quarantine period into account when planning their return to Qatar to avoid absence during the mandatory quarantine period, whether in the designated facilities or at home.

Here are some of the FAQ's on quarantine rules upon arrival in Qatar

For more information, call 109 from inside Qatar or +974 44069999 from outside Qatar.

For any queries, or concerns related to COVID-19 in Qatar, the public can contact a 24/7 hotline set up by the Ministry. The hotline number is 16000 and is toll-free.

Does any one know the processing time for the exceptional entry permit, I called 109 so many times but the permit I applied on 2nd August is still not processed?

@Suhail Usman, I am in the same situation. Did you apply and get the permit?

I applied for the permit on 2nd August, still now the status is processing since last 3 days.

I dont know if this is normal or something is wrong or a system issue. (I did have a system issue and I was not able to submit the permit earlier which was resolved after contacting the support team)
