MOCI announces list of over 500 discounted consumer goods for Ramadan
The holy month of Ramadan is just around the corner and this year it may be quite different from the ones we have experienced in the past, in light of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) situation.
Although several restrictions are in place for the safety of the people in Qatar, the month will once again see the amazing sense of community spirit in the country, reflected through several efforts made by the government and non-profit organizations.
Keeping up with its longstanding yearly initiative, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) has released a list of at least 556 discounted consumer products, specifically for the holy month of Ramadan.
The reduction in prices is aimed at making it more convenient for the citizens and residents of Qatar to meet their consumer needs during Ramadan, in which spending on food items is noticeably high.

Launched in cooperation with major shopping malls, the discounted prices will come into effect today (April 18, 25 Shaban, 1441 Hijri), and will remain unchanged until the end of the holy month.
The discounted prices apply to basic commodities, commonly used in Ramadan, comprising flour, sugar, rice, pasta, chicken, oil, milk and other food and non-food items that are consumed in greater quantities during the month.
The Ministry has been coordinating with suppliers to identify commodities that witness increased demand during the holy month in a bid to offer these goods at the most reasonable prices.
The list of discounted consumer goods has been circulated to all major shopping malls in the country and is accessible to consumers through the Ministry’s website and social network pages.
The Ministry further warned that violations of the Consumer Protection Law and its regulations will strictly not be tolerated.
Furthermore, the Ministry said it will conduct an increased number of inspections to crack down on violations.
Those who violate laws and go against ministerial decisions will be referred to the relevant authorities and appropriate action will be taken to safeguard consumer rights, the Ministry said.
The public is urged to report any violation of the resolution’s provisions.
The Ministry said it receives complaints and suggestions through the following channels:
