Ant person who thinks of shipping refrigerators and washing machines all the way from the west to Qatar just because he has been given the facility to do so, is absolutely insane.

The whole idea of doing so is weird. Such a person cannot be loyal to his company in Qatar. Period.

I just changed the subject because this guy won't stop. I believe you have a shitty job and is envious of people having a good job + benefits. How I got the job? Really? Do you think I owe you an answer on that? I'd be posting the original query on another thread and I do really appreciate you staying out of it, if you want to say anything come here and let it all out. PS let me educate you, here where we come from we may use US appliances, so the subject is not implying that the shipment is coming from US, it's just poor interpretation, and your poor thinking as well as for your poor answers and poor collaboration, and collaboration is what people seek on this forum, and you have been less than collaborative.

Mauricio85: First, if you would bother to read the subject line of your post it says "US" and then later down you state Latin America giving a clear indication the items were to be shipped from a western port to Doha. Second, you are right in claiming that I do no know where Columbia is located on the world map and hopefully I will be joining a school and take some lessons in geography. Third, there is no doubt that your plan to ship refrigerators and washing machine, ovens and bread toasters, grass and garden hoses, pots and pans, toilet soap and toilet paper etc from your country to Doha is simply weird. It is totally insane. It reflects the quality of your thinking and makes me wonder how you got the job here in the first place. With your thinking, you just cannot be loyal to your company. However, such weird acts are nothing new here and during my stay here for many years I have come across several people of your like and looks. This time you will note, I have stopped short of terming your plan of shipment as being something "stupid".

Wow this @accabaccha speaks out loud only showing how ignorant he is (is that you grey matter ?) and I really don't appreciate any of your non sense and quick judging posts. In order to level myself to your poor understanding of the situation I'll briefly explain. I asked that question because yes company will ship my stuff and if I may I'll bring along all I can specially appliances than I'm still paying because I'm a middle class worker that has to work hard for such things as appliances, so in order to not expend from my pocket I will every other day take advantage of the moving benefit, if I can which is the whole purpose of the post (not so you could find a space to write stupidity). I don't know what you mean by Western way, I'm from Colombia (do you even know where that is) and I guess our way is to make the most of what's been given to us and everything we acquire in life. So I really don't care what you think, you've been less than helpful and I really hope QL reviews the reports on your comments, you should learn also the rough way not to mess with people with your spam posts. So please do me a favor and don't reply, it's just bits wasted on this page. By the way, I'll be bringing my 2 pet cats and if you have a problem with it, 4 words, none of your business.

But truth always hurts, yes always.

Daniel Schriefer: A person who has been offered a job with such a facility where the company is bearing his cost of shipping his personal items to and fro from Doha, should have the grey matter of not asking such stupid queries. His query simply reflected his level of education and understanding. Possibly, you too must be wondering what type query was it that he posted. It was nothing but downright silly. I now wonder how he got the job in Qatar in the first place.

All I have tried to point out is how a facility being provided is being terribly misused and my comments surely has hurt some people. I know of so many other such cases in the ME. There is nothing racial in my comments.

But truth always hurts, Daniel, yes always!

mohamedwahidlk: So you are back with your "views".

I have not forgotten the foul and filthy, crude and vulgar language you had used in your recent post against Qatar Postal Service. It simply reflected the low-level type of person you are.

But then, it's your level of knowledge and understanding which is indeed very poor, that makes you feel that my post was racial. If you would be a person with an open mind and broad thinking ( and educated) which you are definitely not, ideas of shipping refrigerators and washing machines, cooking ranges and bread toasters, grass and garden hoses, beds and mattresses, toilet soaps and toilet papers to name just a few, all the way from the West to Qatar, would never have come into your mind. It is simply WEIRD thinking which is a result of someone being given a facility he has never dreamed of in his life. Any sane person in the right frame of his mind from any part of the world would ever think of shipping such items from the West or any other part of the world for that matter, to Doha. In this respect people from Asia and Africa are far better. They don’t waste the money of a company just because a facility is given to them. They value money. They think.

Just as an example and to wake you up a bit of how westerners think and behave, my previous company had a British engineer who when going on vacation always left the air con of his villa running for the whole month while he was away. That was because the company was paying the electricity bills. When the management got learn of this, they issued a circular informing such residents in company-maintained villas that the company would henceforth be paying just 15% of the electricity and water bills.

The engineer learnt his lesson the hard way when he returned and realized he would need to foot the electricity bill for his villa.

During his next vacation the westerner went "thinking properly" and of course he did not repeat the act! Ha! Ha!

@acca, again stop your way of expressing racism in this QLs site in everyone's posts as usual u are doing, ""Western Way" of thinking""" , this word really hurt-ed me a lot, actually you don't have any rights to criticize his wishes, western way of thinking will be a good for environment as well, keep in mind that , and stop your bloody way of separating nations by their country, continent and stop spreading racism on this site.....

@acchabaccha, it is none of your business to criticize or wonder why he want to ship such items, it is his personal wish to carry his own appliances which he loves, he may also thinking about global warming etc.., so reducing the number of appliances consumption will helping to corp with global warming,

so please stop your stupid, nonsense, unnecessary way of criticizing into others affairs

Since the costs of moving your equipment is on the company, no wonder you wish to bring such items over to Doha. That is the "Western Way" of thinking. I am sure you are shipping your "rocking chair" and your "cozy bed" to allow you to snooze and sleep well. Try shipping also some green grass from your garden as Qatar is a desert country and you may be missing some of the greenery from back home. Would you be shipping such items to Doha if you had to bear the costs? Just ask your yourself. When people get unnecessary facilities (which they could never dream of) such really weird ideas come floating into the mind.

Ah! I forget your dog(s). Are they coming over? Dogs receive better treatment and facilities here than many, many human workers from Asian and African countries.

I agree with Daniel. Voltage conversion is not a problem, its the different frequencies that is the biggest issue and harder to solve. Goods like TV's & DVD players etc will have no issue with the different frequencies (and tend to be dual voltage anyway) but large goods like a washing machines are definitely not going to work without frequency converters.

By Daniel Schriefer• 3 Jul 2019 21:57
Daniel Schriefer

You will not only need a voltage converter from 120 to 240 V but also a frequency converter from 60 to 50 Hz. I guess, they will be hard to find in Qatar.

First, why do you need to move such appliances to Qatar all the way from USA when you can find all these appliances here in brand new condition? You may need to ship them back also whenever you are leaving as there will be no buyers here. It is indeed a very unusual query.
