Katara features the heritage of Bangladesh in weeklong festival
Whether you’re an expatriate hailing from the South Asian nation or belong to any other country in the world, the ‘Bangladesh Festival Qatar 2019’ is sure to delight you with its cultural offerings.
Organized by the Bangladesh Forum Qatar (BFQ) - in cooperation with the Embassy of Bangladesh in Doha and the Cultural Village Foundation – Katara, the festival celebrates the 48th anniversary of the Independence and National Day of Bangladesh, reported The Peninsula.
Authentic Bangladeshi cuisines are on offer at the three three-day food festival, which began on Saturday in the presence of a large audience comprising different nationalities and age groups, especially those from the Bangladeshi community in Qatar.
The festival also comprised cultural workshops, movie screenings, and photography exhibition.
Ashud Ahmed, Ambassador of Bangladesh, praised the co-operation with Katara and stressed that the festival is a good opportunity to introduce Bangladesh’s heritage.
Mariam al-Saad, Director of International Affairs at Katara, said: “The festival celebrates the culture of a country that has a long history and rich heritage, combining authentic traditions and customs with cultural, heritage and folkloric events”, according to Gulf Times.
Katara is also hosting today, an exhibition emphasizing the works of artists Kalidas Karmakar and Mustafa Arshad at Katara Building 19, Hall 2.
The festival’s events comprises showcases various aspects of the culture and traditions of the people of Bengal, reported Gulf Times.
The vivacious and exciting seven-day festival which began on March 19 will conclude today.
