Education Ministry mulls review of fees charged by private schools and universities

One of the key concerns of expatriate parents living in Qatar is the high rate of fees levied by different educational institutions in the country.

Taking those concerns seriously, Qatar’s Ministry of Education and Higher Education is planning to begin a project to study and fix fees for private schools and universities in the country, reported The Peninsula

The ministry will take into account the interests of both students and promoters of educational institutions before arriving at a final decision.

Dr Turki Al Mahmoud, Director of Planning, Strategy and Projects Department at the Education Ministry, said they would undertake a detailed study about fees levied by different private schools and colleges in Qatar and compare it to the quality of services provided.

“Fees charged by some schools are realistic as they offer high-quality services. But a few others charge higher fees that is disproportionate to the level of services offered by them. There’ll be a review of the value of fees charged by the schools in line with the interest of all parties involved,” he was quoted as saying by The Peninsula

Al Mahmoud said another project, related to licensing and monitoring the quality of higher education institutions in Qatar, is already in place. It will soon set standards for supervision of universities and their performance, as well as monitor university fees.

Very good decision alhamdulillah

Fee in schools are very high, so the parents like me try for the low rate fee but we never get admissions there and where we get admission the fee is high and at the end of the day we struggle to pay the fee and at last kids must leave the school, it’s really sad.

So very happy for this decision looking forward for the best in future!

Great initiative from the ministry. Birla Public School will be forced to slash the fee by 50% if we compare with their recent quality of service :)

Please conduct a transparent survey to find out what the parents really think.

Some schools are being run just as commercial establishments to make profit from the helpless parents.

Really correct, some schools take too much fee and providing low quality teaching....

*Please do a open survey regarding this, so parents can get an opportunity to convey their opinion.

*And please grand permission for change schools, then school authorities will reduce fee....
