Gardens of Al Andalus Exhibition
Qatar National Library (QNL) is hosting the Gardens of Al-Andalus exhibition under the patronage of HE Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al-Thani, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, QNL.
The exhibition is a creation by the Islamic Culture Foundation of Madrid (FUNCI), and focuses upon the importance of gardens in Islam, showcasing the plants, tools, and gardening methods used by Muslims in Andalusia.
The exhibition was successfully exhibited in countries slong the Mediterranean and Arabian Gul before it was brought to Qatar by the Qur’anic Botanic Garden.
Gardens of Andalus exhibition is part of FUNCI’s ‘Med-O-Med, Cultural Landscapes of the Mediterranean and the Middle East’ network. The platforms spans 23 countries and aims to preserve the region’s development, education, and natural and cultural heritage.
QNL has unearthed a number of its rare books, manuscripts and photographs to correspond with the exhibition's theme.
The exhibition displays the most renowned gardens of Al-Andalus in the form of multiple scale models. You can also sample some of the botanical species used at the time with certain olfactory devices.
The event is open to all without registration.
