Sending New/Used Car back to USA

Hi,

I am currently looking into buying a new car in Qatar but was focussed solely on models that are also available in the US -- as at the end of my contract I would be interested in shipping the car back to California for use in the States.

I know that California has some strict environmental and air quality restrtrictions (Catyltic converter etc) so I wanted to get some advice here from anyone that has done this before from Qatar and if its reallly worth all the bother and associated shipping/tax costs or simply better to sell the car used in Qatar (at contract end) and buy new again one I arrive state side.

Any advice apprciated.
