Resignation within one month. Employer not allowing me home
I came to Qatar only a month ago to find the cost of living ridiculously high and my salary very low in comparison and doing things on the weekend or buying anything is so costly. I had no idea before I came as I planned to study and now found out through the institution in my home country the cost is triple because it will be done internationally. Our employer has our accomodation in the desert so on weekends it's costly to travel to civilisation. I told her all of this and said I wanted to go home because I wouldn't be able to save or study but I was ignored. I then waited 3 weeks and told her again and she now says I have to wait for them to find another candidate. I've only done my medical check so far. No ID and haven't signed a contract. I have had calls from my home country to have interviews but I feel trapped here in Qatar because they are not letting me know when I can go home only that I can leave when they find a replacement. I came here as a teacher and don't have a class because I have only been training etc. What can I do?
