Congestion around Pearl Qatar to ease significantly as two tunnels open for traffic
The Pearl Qatar is one of the country’s most premium residential areas. However, for a very long time, getting into and out of the area has proved to be a major headache.
However, all that could soon be a distant memory as Ashghal has opened two tunnels at the Pearl Interchange, a major component of the ambitious Lusail Expressway project, reported Gulf Times.
The opening of the two tunnels comes as part of a series of upcoming openings before Eid, which include opening Ali bin Abi Talib Street, TV Intersection, Messila Tunnel, Jassim bin Hamad Street, in addition to Olympic Intersection which will be ready in the coming days, reported The Peninsula.
The first tunnel, from the Pearl to West Bay area, is over 317M long, while the second, in the opposite direction, is 408M long. Each tunnel has three lanes and is 17M wide.
The Pearl Interchange is a three-level interchange and provides access from and to residential and business areas in Legtaifiya Lagoon area. The Pearl metro station is also nearby.
The two tunnels will accommodate traffic coming to and from the Pearl and connect it with Lusail Expressway through the north and south canal crossings, which reduces traffic congestion at Pearl Interchange.
The Pearl Interchange will also help connect Doha with Lusail City and northern areas through the two canal crossings. The North Canal Crossing is 200M long and has six lanes in each direction, and provides direct access to Lusail City and northern areas.
The South Canal Crossing is 125M long and has eight lanes in each direction between Onaiza Interchange and Pearl Interchange.

Give 3 months time my pal.
Good, but they need to visit the Industrial area as well, which is blocked for two years now, and as a result the traffic there is the worst.
This is what we were waiting for the past one year, congrats, everybody is happy now. Thanks.
