After several delays, the Doha Festival City is finally gearing up to open its doors to the public on April 5.

The country’s newest shopping and entertainment destination moved one step closer to reality when it installed a giant sculpture, titled the Sculpted Torus, on its premises yesterday, reported Gulf Times.

The breathtaking art piece, created by visionary sculptor David Harber, is 4M in diameter and will occupy pride of place at the mall’s Centre Court.

The piece, an adaptation of David Harber Ltd’s iconic Torus and part of a series of five variations that will be installed at Doha Festival City, is created from mirror-polished, marine grade stainless steel.

It will sit alongside a succession of smaller, 2M Torus – all of which will be slight variations of the original design.

Each Torus commissions are being designed and handcrafted at his Oxfordshire workshop in England. All pieces are expected to be in place by next month.

The Doha Festival City, which saw several shifts in its final opening date, is expected to become a huge family entertainment destination.

The company has been trying to build support and excitement via various social media platforms, announcing they were giving final touches to their grand opening.

In addition to the Torus, Harber will also produce a 4M bronze Keystone Ring with a Verdigris finish to be located outside one of the main entrances. It is also designing some hanging tree canopies to be placed in the two glass atria of the North Food Court.

For those who do not have any idea about how the completed Doha Festival City will look like, see this video and be amazed.
