After the brief, unusual wintry lull, summer days are here again!
People in Qatar may have felt things in the country were a little surreal, seeing one cold winter day after another in February and March.
But the good times seem to be winding down, with the country’s Met Department predicting a return to hotter climes.
Gulf Times reported that the temperature in Qatar was set to soar by at least 3 to 6°C above normal starting Sunday and Monday. The weather office also forecast strong winds and high seas in offshore areas in the early hours of Friday.

On Wednesday, the Met department tweeted about the possibility of a ‘noticeable rise’ in temperature on March 12 and 13 due to southerly winds.

Yesterday, they put up a more detailed explanation up on its social media channels.
“Weather charts indicate that the country will be affected by southerly moderate to fresh winds during (the) daytime on Sunday and Monday (March 12 and 13),” the report said. These conditions are likely to lead to a “noticeable rise” in temperature, which will be 3-6°C above their average levels for this time of the year.
The maximum temperature is expected to reach the mid-30°C levels during the said period in the central, western and southern parts of the country. Also, there is a chance of blowing dust and low visibility in open areas, the report added.
Friday’s detailed forecast says it will be hazy in the early hours of the day, followed by mild daytime conditions. It will also be partly cloudy at times and relatively cold by night.
A minimum temperature of 15°C is likely in Wakrah, Mesaieed and Al Khor today, while in Doha it will be 18C. The maximum, on the other hand, will be between 23°C and 29°C.
We will enjoy the warm weather ... will be at Wakrah beach this afternoon
