If you’re thinking it’s time to get your car washed and put away those umbrellas, think again. The Qatar Meteorology (Met) Department has forecast light to moderate rain again this weekend with the possibility of thunder in some areas of Qatar. The rain is expected to start on Thursday (March 2) and go on till Sunday (March 5) in some parts of the country.

According to the Met Department, weather charts indicate that Qatar will be influenced by atmospheric instability as a result of a trough of low pressure over the region starting on Thursday up until the end of Sunday, reported The Peninsula Qatar.

Temperatures are predicted to be around the normal average while prevailing winds in this timeframe will be north-easterly to easterly light to moderate.

The Met Department is cautioning anyone planning to visit the sea areas to check the weather forecast using official channels before heading out.

February 2017 recorded the coldest weather in Qatar since 1962 with temperatures dropping 2-3 degrees Celsius lower than the average temperature for this month. Abu Samrah witnessed a temperature of 1.5 degrees Celsius, breaking the previous record of temperature of 3.8 degrees Celsius witnessed in 1964. Qatar has also seen some rainy spells in the last few weeks and it seems it will continue just a little while longer.
