Hi. I need your help please.

I came with my wife on work visa for both of us from uk. We brought our 6 year old son with us but we got his visa on arrival.

Now both me and my wife got our RP. How can we convert our son's from tourist visa on arrival to a family visa under my sponsorship or my wife sponsorship? And what are the required documents and steps to do that?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Once you have secured family visa:

On-Arrival Visa, Visit Visa or Tourist Visa

All above type of visas, can be changed to the RP without exiting Qatar.

You need to go to Gharafah Immigration Service center

Building 1 - Ground Floor

First, go to the main reception, tell them your family is already here on visit visa and you need to convert this to family visa.

He will send you to the first room beside the reception on his left.

The officer will make the change of visa on his computer, it won't take more than few mins. afterwards he will ask you to take the token from reception and goto the service counters to pay the fee of 500/passport. ( this saves you from exiting the Qatar which will probably be double in charges.

Remember to print a copy of your new visa, original passport and ATM card to pay at the reception.

I learnt this the hard way, running between gate 1, gate 2, 2nd floor, different receptions etc etc, this might help someone.

Good Luck

General advice: for whole family RP, hope its useful:

After receiving your RP, now you can apply for family visa. employer would give covering letter. you need to have an application typed in Arabic and English, add passport copy, QID copy, RP copy, wife and children passport copies. birth certificates for all the children having both parents names on, Nikah /matrimonial certificate copy. You will take all these documents to main immigration office (anyone). It will take about 3-4 days for visa to be issued. now you will take these visas to MOI in the hospital and they will give you the letter for medical test of the wife. After completing medical test, finger printing need to be completed and then the family RP will be issued.
