Tips for driving in foggy weather

The Qatar Weather Department and the Ministry of the Interior have released these tips for safe driving when visibility is low due to heavy fog.

1. Allow more distance between vehicles that during normal circumstances

2. Avoid overtaking and passing, regardless of the speed of the vehicle in front of you. If you are sure of safe distance and enough space, overtake with extreme caution.

3. Stick to the lane you are driving in, and avoid drifting into the middle of the road - avoid changing lanes unless in extremely necessary conditions.

4. If the fog is too dense to continue, don't hesitate to pull completely off the road and park your vehicle safely away from traffic.

5. MOST IMPORTANT: Don't use hazard lights while driving, as these are meant for emergency stopping only. Make sure you use your fog lights or low beam lights.
