Urban Point and Qatar Living announce winners of Qatar Biryani Month

Organized by Qatar Living and Urban Point, Qatar Biryani Month was a hit and brought the Doha community together in an entirely new way. In the spirit of giving and friendly competition, restaurants across Qatar provided Buy-1-Biryani-Get-1-Free offers throughout the month of November.

The event was designed to reward Qatar residents with an opportunity to try different Biryanis and rate them to determine the top 3 most liked Biryanis in Qatar. Customers downloaded the Urban Point mobile app, with which they redeemed 2-for-1 Biryani offers and rated them via a simple in-app rating mechanism.

Now that Biryani Month is over, Qatar Living and Urban Point are proud to announce the top 3 Biryanis that were most liked by the community.

Drumroll... and the winners are...

1st Place: Zaffran Dining Experience
2nd Place: Star Kebab Tandoori
3rd Place: Tie between Royal Indian and Zaoq

Overall, it was a great month of tasting and exploring Qatar's variety of Biryani with family and friends. From Grand Gourmet's Dum Biryani to Zaoq's Pakistani-style, every meat, even veg and a variety of preparations - it was a Biryani-lover's heaven!

Two Urban Point foodie meet-ups took place - one at Grand Gourmet and one at Zaffran Dining Experience. In both cases, the guests loved their Biryanis. Grand Gourmet has arguably one of the best chefs in town and has an awesome Dum Biryani: Chef Nickhil's version is covered with dough so that the juices soak into every morsel of the dish and give it an intense, mouth-watering flavor. Both restaurants also source some of the best and natural ingredients, which makes the taste that much better.

Sangeet Hyderabadis Restaurant in Najma and Biryani Hut in Al Wakrah saw the highest number of orders per participating outlet. Sangeet, which just had its 1st year anniversary, has the first floor for the quick eater and an upstairs for family dining. Biryani Hut is similar in that it's great if you're in a hurry to grab and go, but also has a private seating area upstairs for a real lunch break.

Congratulations to the winners and thank you to all the participating restaurants, especially Grand Gourmet and Zaffran Dining Experience for hosting the Biryani Month foodie events, and, of course, a big thank you to all those customers who tasted and rated so that Qatar could know whose Biryani stands out!
