Doha Corniche to be closed from noon for King Salman’s historic visit
Those who are planning to travel via the Doha Corniche today should be aware that the area will be closed between noon and 2pm as part of welcoming Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.
I Love Qatar reported that the celebrations, which will be open to the public, will include a dhow show, display of stallions and cultural performances. Refreshments will also be distributed free of charge.
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani will welcome King Salman for the two-day official visit.
The leaders are expected to discuss means of enhancing co-operation between the two countries as well as latest developments around the region and thr world.
Qatar's Ambassador to Saudi Arabia HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Thamer Al Thani spoke about the historic visit.
“The meeting will open vast prospects for joint action and co-operation in all areas and emphasise more cohesion and interdependence among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states,” he said in a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA).
While Qatari and Saudi Arabian businessmen have been enjoying growing co-operation, a number of Saudi citizens have also been visiting Qatar as tourists.
