The many wives of Donald Trump

There is a common denominator among Ivana Zelnickova, Marla Maples and Melania Knauss and that is Donald Trump. At some point they have been married to businessman Donald Trump who would soon be the next president of the United States.

Donald Trump’s first wife was Ivana Zelnickova. Ivana was born in Czechoslovakia. Through hard work and determination she developed the skills and the ability to ski well enough to join the Olympic Games. While she earned her master’s in physical education, she continued to study decorating and business which would prove useful later on to the Trump empire. She met Trump in New York while promoting the Olympic Games. After dating for a few years, she married Trump in 1977 in a lavish ceremony. After the marriage, the Trumps were a major business team taking on major projects.

In the early 80’s, Ivana informed Trump she wanted more time with the children. Donald Trump cut her loose from her positions but asked her to take over as president of the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan.

However not long after this, rumors began circulating that a beauty pageant was trying to lure Donald Trump. Marla Maples was 23 years old when she started dating Donald Trump. He was 40. The relationship developed into a serious affair to the point Donald would take Maria with him wherever he went. He would put her up in a hotel close by so he could escape Ivana to see his mistress. The situation came to boil when the two women either accidentally or deliberately met on a ski slope. It was a nasty confrontation, and Ivana filed for divorce.

Maria Maple who was accused of breaking up Trump’s marriage became his wife number 2 in the year 1993. She was married to Trump for six years before heading for exit in 1999. It was being speculated that Maria was seeing another man Michael Mailer. They announced their engagement several months after her divorce. The engagement was soon broken and Mailer married someone else.

But Marla was set for life. She would walk away as a multimillionaires and mother of Tiffany, heir to Donald Trump estate.

Enter Donald’s third wife, Melania. She was born in Slovenia as Melanija Knavs. A former model, she is known for her fair share of plastic surgery.

Speculation was rife among people that Donald was probably still married to Marla while he began seeing Melania. It is known that they met and started dating in the 1990’s. As soon as Donald divorced Marla, he began promoting Melania’s modeling career. The couple married in 2005 with the wedding receiving considerable press coverage.      

All the three women are glamorous and have provided fodder to the gossip mills. Trump talks little about his ex-wives.  

While Trump runs the affairs of his government as the next president of the United States, let us hope Melania Trump does not become member of his ex wives club.
