New parking lot at Souq Waqif to be opened to public today

Very soon, parking woes at the Souq Waqif will be a distant memory. While several sections of the underground parking lot at the iconic marketplace have already opened up, people still find it tough to park their vehicles during peak hours.

Starting today, things are expected to get a little easier with the opening of the western parking lot.

The Private Engineering Office, which is in charge of maintenance, said that the underground facility would be spread over two levels. The parking space will have three levels and enough slots for 650 vehicles. Some of these are designated for the physically challenged and elderly.

The new parking lot will have entry and exit points from the Msheireb side and the falcon market at Souq Waqif.

Now that’s one less reason to postpone your trip to the Souq.
