Indian and Iraqi fans in Qatar, a football feast awaits you today
Indian and Iraqi football fans in Qatar will get to enjoy a great evening of sporting action at the Qatar Sports Club when Bengaluru FC will take on Air Force Club in the final of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup.
The match, which begins at 7pm Doha time, will see the Indian outfit aim to script history by becoming the first club from the country to win the coveted title.
Both teams are appearing in their maiden final of the tournament.
Bengaluru FC, established just three years ago, already has two I-League titles and a Federation Cup trophy in their cabinet. Their success at the continental level has caught people’s attention.
They surprised reigning AFC Cup champions Johor Darul Ta’zim 4-2 on aggregate during the semi-final stage. Captain Sunil Chhetri scored a brace in the second leg at home becoming their top-scorer with five goals to his name.
Both teams have some key players missing due to injury and suspension. While Air Force Club’s influential midfielder Bashar Rasan and centre-back Samal Saaed are injured, Bengaluru’s first-choice goalkeeper Amrinder Singh has been suspended.
While it is expected to be a full house today, tickets for the match will be available at the gates from 4pm until kick-off.
May the best team win!
So much excited about that ...............
