Emir declares three days of mourning following death of his grandfather
His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani has declared three days of public mourning following the death of his grandfather Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad al-Thani.
The former Emir passed away this evening at the age of 84, according to a statement from Emiri Diwan.

Sheikh Khalifa became the Emir of Qatar on 22nd February, 1972.
The funeral of the Emir Father will be held in State Mosque after Asr Prayers on Monday (Oct 24) and the Doha Corniche will be closed due to VIP movement and protocols in place.
Expect traffic rush around 2-4pm and maybe onwards.
