On Friday, American airlines manufacturers Boeing signed a record $18.6bn deal with Qatar Airways to supply as many as 100 aircraft to its fledgling fleet.
Qatar Airways will buy as many as 60 737 Max 8 jets. It is Qatar Airways’ first narrow-body order with Boeing since 1979, reports bloomberg.com.
The Qatar-based airlines will also buy 40 777 and 787 Dreamliner twin-aisle aircrafts, according to CEO Akbar Al Baker.
Under the deal, the airways is expected to take delivery of its first aircraft by 2018.
Qatar Airways still intends to follow through on a 2011 order for 50 Airbus A320neo and A321neo planes.
Haah business relationships are ever transient; they've been loyal Airbus customers longer than I've lived and I never thought they'd go to Boeing ever.. Oh well..two great plane makers with nothing to choose between the two..
Great news for Boeing and the US econony
