There had been a huge outpour of public support, with many not getting cylinders for quite some time. If you still have not switched to Shafa, then do so fast because the inaugural offer will end on September 30.

Shafaf cylinders are normally priced at QR365. But until September 30, those people who exchange their steel cylinders for Shafaf ones, will get a QR100 discount.

Gulf Times reported that Sidra stores, situated inside Woqod fuel stations, were reporting ever-growing demand for the green and blue fiberglass and plastic cylinders.

That it weighs only 5kg when empty, significantly lighter than traditional steel ones, is one reason for its popularity.

Reports of irregular supply of steel gas cylinders have also prompted people to switch.

Shafaf cylinders are fire-proof and do not explode. There are also ways to gauge the remaining amount of gas in the cylinder, making it easier to schedule replacement.

Shafaf cylinders are available in two sizes — 12kg and 6kg.
