Do you own a Samsung Galaxy Note 7? The replacement programme has begun
Qatar’s Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) and Samsung have started the replacement programme for faulty Note 7 phones.
Devices purchased before September 15, with model number SM-N930 (5.7in screen), will be replaced in the first phase.
Users of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 can check whether their phone suffers from a defective battery by visiting the company’s official website www.samsung.com.
The local sellers of the phones have also come out with detailed bulletins to identify faulty Note 7 pieces from the rest. Instructions are expected to soon appear in local newspapers as well.
The recall campaign of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phones will continue until December 31.
There are three options in front of users. They can
(a) Replace damaged device with a new one
(b) Replace damaged device with another device and pay the difference
(c) Refund the amount paid for the device.
Earlier, Samsung had initiated its biggest recall in history after batteries of Note 7 phones were found to catch fire and explode.
QLers, have any of you got your phones replaced? How did you find the experience?
No. 3 is not an option. I called Samsung and they said, i quote: Sir, for now we will replace your phone with A7 then when Note 7 comes we will call you back be sure not to damage the A7, what a bunch of loonies.
The best option is (c) Refund the amount paid for the device. ...................................
