The Chinese Terracotta Warriors are here and they are impressive!
Are you still in Qatar and wondering what to do during Eid holidays? While there are plenty of things to do in Qatar, few of them will rival taking a ride to the Museum of Islamic Arts at the Doha Corniche.
You know, some very special Chinese visitors have come down to grace the institution’s hallowed halls. And oh boy, are they impressive.
The latest temporary exhibition, Treasures of China, has opened at the Museum of Islamic Arts, and it is impressive by any standards.
Occupying pride of place among all exhibits are three Terracotta Warriors, whop once stood proudly in the tomb of China’s first emperor Qin Shi Huang.
The objects, which are being displayed in the country as part of the Qatar-China Year of Culture, also features many pottery and other artefacts dating back to over 5,000 years. Can you even begin to imagine?
The displays are exquisitely maintained and the low light gives off an aura of mysticism. You will feel as if you’re transported to the court of an ancient Chinese emperor.
The best thing about the Terracotta Warriors is that each of them (around 8,000 in all) were modeled after real people. None of the figurines are the same and each has different facial features.
It’s really no wonder that French politician Jacques Chirac once called the Terracotta Warriors the eighth wonder of the world.
The exhibition is free for all, and cameras are allowed inside. However, a word of caution as flash photography is strictly prohibited. When I was there, I saw a couple being repeatedly warned for using flash bulbs inside the halls.
So what are you waiting for? Say Nee-haw to some of the finest warriors of their generation.
The best for me is the she Camel & Tea pot ......... Excellent .............. will visit them thrice ...........
