Before winter comes the worse of summers. This year, Doha seems to be bearing the brunt of a heat wave blowing throughout the region.

On Thursday, mercury level in the country soared to 48C and Friday is expected to be another unusually hot day, Gulf Times cited Qatar’s Met Department as saying.

The weather report also warns residents to expect high humidity at night. Batna and Turayna recorded the highest temperature in the country at 48C, followed by 47C in the Qatar University area, Al Shahaniya, Al Rayyan, Karana and Jumayliyah, and 46C in the Doha airport area, Abu Samra and Ghuwairiyah.

The Met department tweeted that temperatures were hovering around the mid-40C levels “in Doha and most areas of the country,” advising people to avoid direct sunlight.

On Friday, the maximum temperature expected is 45C in Abu Samra and 44C in Doha, Al Khor, Messaied and Wakrah.

Forecast for the weekend showed that there is a chance of rain in the central parts of Qatar by Saturday afternoon.
