An authentic Moroccan experience
There is an assortment of Moroccan restaurants available all over Qatar, yet Argan restaurant, which is situated on the ground floor of Souq Waqif boutique hotel Al Jasra, offers the most authentic experience and taste.
Argan sets off a traditional Moroccan vibe with its use of orange, red and lilac Moroccan sofas and traditional hectogon shaped tables. The dim lighting at the restaurant enables the diners to unwind and enjoy their evening.
During my experience I selected the Mezzeh platter, which included four salads. Zaalouk , a grilled eggplant salad, Barba which is beetroot seasoned with cinnamon and honey, potato salad, and Carrot Chamoula. Unfortunately, the portions were small which made sharing a little difficult. However, they all tasted fresh.
For the mains I tried the chicken tagine, which was accompanied with preserved lemons, olives and fries. I tried the lamb tagine, which was a combination of both sweet and savory. The succulent lamb shank served over the juicy gravy was falling off the bone. In addition, this dish was accompanied with prunes, apricots and a quail egg and was drizzled over by some sesame seeds and almonds.
The third dish I tasted was the Chicken Rfissa. This dish consisted of chicken over steamed vermicelli, almonds, sultanas and cinnamon. This was a little dry for my liking so I ordered some gravy to further moist the vermicelli. All meals were served in traditional clay tagines.
To adhere to the Moroccan cultural practice, my meal was complemented with Mint tea served in a brass teapot and an array of almond infused sweets. The tea was prepared to perfection.
You need to clear all your doubts once in the year ...........some times you find time to sit with the learnt people who know the truth ...........
Wuna, You had the mischief in your scheme of things ........... I knew it from the beginning ...............
It was like the 'entertainment' that you used to find during the Ramadan tents in the big hotels! Now that was fun!!
I recall going to Rizks' Emporium and Chin Tu Fat did a dance dressed as a Geisha .... Good times :O)
I'll never forget eating in a restaurant in Casablanca when all of a sudden the belly dancers emerged and started swishing and swirling their way through the restaurant.
All the local guys started spilling their beer!!
Fun times.
All the guys often run after wine & women .............. but one they get tired ............ for sure ................
A hot belly dancer goes well with any food :0)
And what about Moroccan wine? Authentic? I don't think so.
Moroccan food without a hot belly dancer? No thanks.
Looks so tasty .. Will visit at the weekend
