FC Barcelona considering renaming stadium 'Qatar Airways Camp Nou,' says report
Catalonian giants FC Barcelona are considering giving the Camp Nou naming rights to Qatar Airways in order to continue their partnership together, says reports.
After failing to announce their contract renewal for one more season last week — with the initial three-year agreement ended on June 30 — the Catalan club plans to open negotiations with other potential multinationals.
The aim is to find a sponsor to pay in part, or for most, of the Espai Barça works and potentially change the name of their stadium.
According to AS, one of these options for the Catalan club is to rename the Camp Nou to 'Qatar Airways Camp Nou' if a new deal is reached with the airline.
There is already an American company prepared to pay a minimum of €200m for a 10-year sponsorship deal, which is especially satisfying to the club given president Josep Maria Bartomeu announced that economic forecasts could be much better than initially predicted.
