A Qatar foodie's favourites
Want to find out where some of the best bites in town are? I have made a little list of my favourites. There is no secret that I am food lover. I enjoy everything. There is no cuisine I won’t try, I love all foods. From fancy to homemade. From Chinese to Mexican - and everything in between.
Here are a few of my favorites in Qatar, and I am 100% open to suggestions if you think there is someplace better.
Paella at The Village Midmac, wowzers! This is delicious. It’s better than the Paella I searched for in Spain! Why? Seeing as I am of Arab heritage the “hard/kinda raw/al dente” rice is not enjoyable to me. And that is how this dish is suppose to be made. Thus, the reason I love the Paella at The Village is because the flavor is spot on but also, the rice is fully cooked and delicious soft. No crunchy rice here (yah!).

The burger at Yum Yum at K108 hotel is likely one of Qatar's best kept secrets. It's a thick hearty delicious burger that is absolutely delicious. Ask any Qatari what their favourite burger is - without hesitation, they will all guide you to Yum Yum. Fyi - 100% of all the proceeds from the hotel and restaurant go to charity!

Red velvet cupcake at Sugar and Spice. This is my comfort desert. This place always serves up fresh goodies and the ingredients are simple. These cupcakes taste light too, love them. I am always thankful I live far away from both branches or I would be ordering these daily. There is something about their cupcakes here that hits the spot.

Date pudding at Marriott Marquis. I am a date pudding kind of gal. I love a good gooey date pudding smothered in sauce. I am not sure where else they sell it in Doha. (Note: this is only offered in Ramadan, you can grab the sticky date pudding in Marriott Marquis' Wanassa Tent!)

Salmon at The Market by Jean-George at the W Hotel. Likely, one of the best salmons made… ever! It’s totally delicious. Moist, soft, never dry. I had well-cooked salmon in Doha - but so far these guys are my favorite. You can have it at their business lunch which is 3 courses for 100QR - excellent value. Can't say it enough, but it is delicious.

Lamb lasagna at Carluccios! Yum! This tastes like it was homemade. Perfection! My mother made a mean lasagna and this one is just as good. A very very close second is the lasagna at La Casa 28.

Sushi at Neo’s. For starters, I’m not a sushi fan. I’m indifferent about sushi - sometimes I pat myself on the back because it’s suppose to be a low calorie healthy option. That’s generally as far as it goes for sushi and I. Then… after a friend persistently begging me to try out Neo’s (this was over the course of a year!), I conceded. And wow. It’s awesome. I don’t care much for sushi but I do, indeed, love Neo’s sushi. I have tried a couple of places in town which are the typical bland affair, but Neo’s makes sushi amazingly well. Their shrimp in spicy sauce rocks here as well.

Broccoli and cheddar soup at the Diner Station. Favorite soup in town. Creamy, delicious, and a total comfort food option.

- Pinkberry - I actually “enjoy” these more than ice cream. The frozen yogurt is tart with fresh fruit toppings is a perfect defense against the sweltering heat. If I were in Canada, this wouldn’t be on my favorite’s list. But, I’m in Doha, and for this part of the world Pinkberry’s frozen yogurts are perfection.
