The government has decided to set up a special committee to draft rules for grading manpower agencies recruiting domestic workers, QNA reported.

The committee will also lay down a mechanism to speed up the recruitment process, reduce recruitment charges and increase the probation period for domestic helps.

The decision was taken at a meeting held at Qatar Chamber attended by the Minister of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs HE Dr Issa bin Saad Jafali Al Nuaimi, Qatar Chamber Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani and Brigadier Mohammed Ahmed Al Atiq, Assistant Director General of the Department of Border, Passport and Expatriates Affairs at the Ministry of Interior and operators of manpower agencies.

After a discussion with representatives of manpower agencies, the meeting decided to set up the committee, QNA said.

The move comes after concerns raised by citizens on social networking sites and local media about recruitment delays and increasing fees.

The committee will comprise representatives from the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs, Qatar Chamber and manpower agencies.
