How to Exclude Yourself from a Country

Muslim students in Switzerland must shake their teacher's hand at the beginning and end of lessons, a regional authority has ruled. Shaking teachers' hands as a sign of respect is a longstanding tradition in Switzerland. When it emerged last month that a middle school had allowed two Syrian brothers aged 14 and 15 to avoid the tradition due to their religious beliefs, it sparked a national controversy.

The boys, whose father is an imam, said their faith did not allow them to shake hands with a woman who was not related to them.

Justice Minister Simonetta Sommaruga said on television that "shaking hands is part of our culture". In the future, the parents or guardians of pupils in the northern canton of Basel-Country could face fines of up to 5,000 Swiss francs (£3,400; $5,000; 4,500 euros) if the pupils refuse to shake hands with a teacher.

You are an eye-opener, Khan. I have always thought Islam was a peaceful religion, But the way you cursed others and wished them death showed me the real face of (your) Islam. Muslims should take a stand against you if they want to be taken serious.

“The last one to enter Paradise will be a man who will walk once, stumble once and be burned by the Fire once. When he gets past it, he will turn to it and say, ‘Blessed be the One Who has saved me from you. Allaah has given me something that He has not given to the first and the last.’ A tree will be raised up for him, and he will say, ‘O Lord, bring me closer to this tree so that I might shelter in its shade and drink of its water.’ Allaah, may He be glorified and exalted, will say: ‘O son of Adam, perhaps if I give you that, you will ask Me for something else.’ He will say, ‘No, O Lord,’ and he will promise that he will not ask Him for anything else, and his Lord will excuse him because he has seen something that he cannot help wanting. So he will be brought near to it and he will shelter in its shade and drink of its water. Then another tree will be raised up for him that is more beautiful than the first, and he will say: ‘O Lord, bring me closer to this tree so that I might drink of its water and shelter in its shade, and I will not ask You for anything else.’ He will say: ‘O son of Adam, did you not promise Me that you would not ask Me for anything else?’ He will say: ‘Perhaps if I bring you near to it, you will ask Me for something else.’ He will promise that he will not ask Him for anything else, and his Lord will excuse him because he has seen something that he cannot help wanting. So he will be brought near to it and he will shelter in its shade and drink of its water. Then another tree will be raised up for him at the gate of Paradise that is more beautiful than the first two, and he will say: ‘O Lord, bring me closer to this tree so that I might shelter in its shade and drink of its water, and I will not ask You for anything else.’ He will say: ‘O son of Adam, did you not promise Me that you would not ask Me for anything else?’ he will say, ‘No, O Lord, I will not ask You for anything else.’ His Lord will excuse him because he has seen something that he cannot help wanting. He will be brought close to it, and when he draws close to it, he will hear the voices of the people of Paradise and will say, ‘O Lord, admit me therein.’ He will say: ‘O son of Adam, what will make you stop asking? Will it please you if I give you the world and as much again?’ He will say: ‘O Lord, are You making fun of me when You are the Lord of the Worlds?’”

Ibn Mas’ood smiled and said: Why don’t you ask me why I am smiling? They said: Why are you smiling? He said: This is how the Messenger of Allaah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) smiled and they said: Why are you smiling, O Messenger of Allaah? He said: “Because the Lord of the Worlds will smile when he says, ‘are You making fun of me when You are the Lord of the Worlds?’ and will say: ‘I am not making fun of you, but I am Able to do whatever I will.’”

This hadeeth was narrated by Muslim (145) from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Islam began as something strange and will revert to being strange as it began, so give glad tidings to the strangers.”

Al-Sindi said in Hashiyat Ibn Majah:

“Strange” refers to the small number of its adherents. The basic meaning of ghareeb (a stranger) is being far from one's homeland. “And will revert to being strange” refers to the small number of those who will adhere to its teachings even though its followers are many. “So give glad tidings to the strangers” means those who follow its commands. “Tooba (glad tidings)” has been interpreted as meaning Paradise or a great tree in Paradise. This shows that supporting Islam and following its commands may require leaving one's homeland and being patient in bearing the difficulties of being a stranger, as was the case in the beginning.

In Sharh Saheeh Muslim, Al-Nawawi quoted al-Qadi ‘Iyad as saying concerning the meaning of this hadeeth:

“Islam began among a few individuals, then it spread and prevailed, then it will reduce in numbers until there are only a few left, as it was in the beginning.”

It says in Fatawa al-Lajnah al-Daimah, 2/170:

The meaning of this hadeeth is that Islam began as something strange, when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) called people to Islam, but no one responded except a few here and there. At that time it was something strange because its people were like strangers amongst others and they were few in number and weak, in contrast to the great numbers and strength of their enemies who persecuted the Muslims. Then some of them migrated to Abyssinia, fleeing for the sake of their religion from tribulation and to save themselves from persecution and oppression, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) migrated at Allah’s command to Madeenah, after suffering intense persecution and in the hope that Allah would give him people to support him in his call and support Islam. Allah fulfilled his hopes, granted victory to his troops and supported His slave.

The Islamic state was established and Islam spread, with the help of Allah, throughout the land; Allah made the word of kufr (disbelief) lowest and the word of Allah is (always) uppermost, for Allah is Almighty, All-Wise, and honour, power and glory belong to Allah, and to His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and to the believers [cf al-Munafiqoon 63:8]. This continued for a long time, then division and dissent spread among the Muslims and weakness and failure increased gradually, until Islam once again became something strange as it was in the beginning. But this is not because of their small numbers, because at that time they will be many, rather it is because they do not adhere to their religion or cling to the Book of their Lord and the teachings of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), apart from those whom Allah wills. So they become distracted and turn to competing in worldly matters, like those who came before them, and they fight amongst themselves for leadership. So the enemies of Islam found a way in and they colonized their lands, humiliated their people and treated them badly. This is the way in which Islam returned to being strange as it was in the beginning.

A number of scholars – including Shaykh Muhammad Rasheed Rida – thought that this hadeeth gives glad tidings of a second victory of Islam after it becomes something strange again. They base this on the metaphor used by the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) when he said, “… will revert to being strange as it began.” So just as following the initial strangeness and alienation the Muslims were victorious and Islam spread, this will happen again after the second period of strangeness and alienation.

This view is more likely to be correct, and is supported by what is proven in the ahadeeth (reports) about the Mahdi and the descent of ‘Eesa (peace be upon him) at the end of time, when Islam will spread and the Muslims will be victorious, and kufr and the kafirs (non-Muslims) will be defeated.

What has been stated by the scholars is that Paradise is in the seventh heaven and Hell is in the lowest level of the earth.

Al-Bukhaari (7432) narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “If you ask of Allah, then ask Him for al-Firdaws, for it is the middle of Paradise and the highest part of Paradise, and above it is the Throne of the Most Gracious.”

Al-Bayhaqi narrated in al-Ba‘th wa’n-Nushoor (455), with a da‘eef isnaad from Ibn Mas‘ood that he said: Paradise is in the seventh, highest heaven and Hell is in the seventh, lowest earth. Then he recited the verses (interpretation of the meaning): “Nay! Verily, the Record (writing of the deeds) of Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil), is (preserved) in ‘Illiyyeen” [al-Mutaffifeen 83:18] and “Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjeen” [al-Mutaffifeen 83:7]. Al-Bayhaqi said immediately after that: The hadith of al-Bara’ ibn ‘Aazib and Abu Hurayrah about the punishment of the grave, and what they narrated from the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) about the location of the soul of the believer and of the disbeliever are indicative of that. End quote.

Al-Haakim (8698) narrated from ‘Abdullah ibn Salaam that Paradise is in the heaven and Hell is in the earth. Classed as saheeh by al-Haakim, and adh-Dhahabi agreed with him.

Al-Haafiz Ibn Rajab (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

‘Atiyyah narrated from Ibn ‘Abbaas, who said: Paradise is in the seventh heaven and Hell is in the seventh earth. This was narrated by Abu Nu‘aym.

Ibn Mandah narrated from the hadith of Abu Yahya al-Qattaat from Mujaahid, who said: I said to Ibn ‘Abbaas: Where is Paradise? He said: Above seven heavens. I said: Where is Hell? He said: Beneath seven seas, one above the other.

Ibn Abi’d-Dunya narrated with his isnaad from Qataadah who said: They used to say that Paradise was in the seventh heaven and that Hell was in the seventh earth.

Some of them quoted as evidence for that the fact that Allah, may He be exalted, told us that the disbelievers will be shown to the Fire morning and evening, i.e., during the barzakh period [between death and the resurrection] and He told us that no gates of heaven will be opened to them. This indicates that Hell is in the earth.

End quote from at-Takhweef min an-Naar (p. 62-63).

Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked: Where are Paradise and Hell?

He replied: Paradise is in the highest of ‘Illiyyeen and Hell is in as-Sijjeen, and as-Sijjeen is in the lowest earth, as it says in the hadith: “When the person is dying, Allah, may He be exalted, says: ‘Record the book of My slave in Sijjeen in the lowest earth.’” As for Paradise, it is above, in the highest of ‘Illiyyeen. It is proven from the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) that “The Throne of the Lord, may He be glorified and exalted, is the roof of Jannat al-Firdaws.”

End quote from Fataawa Noor ‘ala ad-Darb (4/2)

The shaykh also said:

The location of Hell is in the earth, but some of the scholars said that it is the oaceans, and others said that it is in the centre of the earth. What appears to be the case is that it is in the earth, but we do not know exactly where it is in the earth.

The evidence that Hell is in the earth is the verse in which Allah, may He be exalted, says: (interpretation of the meaning): “Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjeen” [al-Mutaffifeen 83:7]. Sijjeen is the lowest earth, and Hell is in the earth.

There are hadiths that have been narrated concerning this, but they are da‘eef (weak). There are also reports from the early generations, such as Ibn ‘Abbaas and Ibn Mas‘ood, and this is the apparent meaning of the Qur’an. Allah, may He be exalted, says (interpretation of the meaning): “Verily, those who belie Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and treat them with arrogance, for them the gates of heaven will not be opened, and they will not enter Paradise until the camel goes through the eye of the needle (which is impossible)” [al-A‘raaf 7:40]. Those who disbelieve in the signs of Allah and are too arrogant to believe in them will undoubtedly be in Hell.

Firstly:

With regard to Iblees entering Hell to abide therein forever, this is something concerning which there is no doubt. Allaah has mentioned his ultimate fate in a number of verses, such as the following.

1 – Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“(Allaah) said: ‘What prevented you (O Iblees) that you did not prostrate yourself, when I commanded you?’ Iblees said: ‘I am better than him (Adam), You created me from fire, and him You created from clay.’

13. (Allaah) said: ‘(O Iblees) get down from this (Paradise), it is not for you to be arrogant here. Get out, for you are of those humiliated and disgraced.’

14. (Iblees) said: ‘Allow me respite till the Day they are raised up (i.e. the Day of Resurrection).’

15. (Allaah) said: ‘You are of those respited.’

16. (Iblees) said: ‘Because You have sent me astray, surely, I will sit in wait against them (human beings) on Your straight path.

17. ‘Then I will come to them from before them and behind them, from their right and from their left, and You will not find most of them as thankful ones (i.e. they will not be dutiful to You).’

18. (Allaah) said (to Iblees): ‘Get out from this (Paradise), disgraced and expelled. Whoever of them (mankind) will follow you, then surely, I will fill Hell with you all’”

[al-A’raaf 7:12-18]

Al-Tabari said:

This is an oath from Allaah, may He be glorified and exalted; He swore that whoever among the sons of Adam followed the enemy of Allaah Iblees and obeyed him, He would fill Hell with them all, i.e., with the disbelievers among the sons of Adam who followed Iblees, and with Iblees and his offspring. End quote.

Tafseer al-Tabari, 8/139

2 – Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“(Allaah) said: ‘O Iblees (Satan)! What is your reason for not being among the prostrators?’

33. [Iblees (Satan)] said: ‘I am not the one to prostrate myself to a human being, whom You created from dried (sounding) clay of altered mud.’

34. (Allaah) said: ‘Then, get out from here, for verily, you are Rajeem (an outcast or a cursed one).

35. ‘And verily, the curse shall be upon you till the Day of Recompense (i.e. the Day of Resurrection).’

36. [Iblees (Satan)] said: ‘O my Lord! Give me then respite till the Day they (the dead) will be resurrected.’

37. Allaah said: ‘Then verily, you are of those reprieved,

38. ‘Till the Day of the time appointed.’

39. [Iblees (Satan)] said: ‘O my Lord! Because You misled me, I shall indeed adorn the path of error for them (mankind) on the earth, and I shall mislead them all.

40. ‘Except Your chosen, (guided) slaves among them.’

41. (Allaah) said: ‘This is the Way which will lead straight to Me.’

42. ‘Certainly, you shall have no authority over My slaves, except those who follow you of the Ghaawoon (Mushrikoon and those who go astray, criminals, polytheists, and evildoers).

43. ‘And surely, Hell is the promised place for them all.

44. ‘It (Hell) has seven gates, for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned’”

[al-Hijr 15:32-44]

Al-Shanqeeti (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

Every verse which mentions how Iblees misguides the sons of Adam also states that Iblees and all those who follow him will be in Hell, as Allaah says here: “And surely, Hell is the promised place for them all. It (Hell) has seven gates ”.

Adwa’ al-Bayaan, 3/131

3 – And Allaah said:

“(Allaah) said: The truth is — and the truth I say

85. That I will fill Hell with you [Iblees (Satan)] and those of them (mankind) that follow you, together”

[Saad 38:84, 85]

4 – Allaah tells us that the jinn said (interpretation of the meaning):

“And of us some are Muslims (who have submitted to Allaah, after listening to this Qur’aan), and of us some are Al‑Qaasitoon (disbelievers those who have deviated from the Right Path). And whosoever has embraced Islam (i.e. has become a Muslim by submitting to Allaah), then such have sought the Right Path.

15. And as for the Qaasitoon (disbelievers who deviated from the Right Path), they shall be firewood for Hell”

[al-Jinn 72:14, 15]

Secondly:

With regard to how Iblees will be punished with fire when he is created from fire, the answer is:

The fact that the jinn were created from fire does not necessarily mean that they are fire now, just as man was created from dust but he is not dust now.

Abu’l-Wafa’ ibn Aqeel said:

The devils and jinn are attributed to fire just as man is attributed to dust, clay and baked clay. What is meant in the case of man is that he originates from clay, but a human being is not clay in a real sense, rather he used to be clay. Similarly the jinn were fire in the beginning. End quote.

Laqt al-Marjaan fi Ahkaam al-Jaan, p. 33, quoted in ‘Aalim al-Jinn wa’l-Shayaateen, p. 58.

Although man was created from clay, a little of it will harm him; if he is buried beneath it he will die, and if he is struck with it (such as with baked clay), he will be wounded or will die. So it not strange to think that although the jinn were created from fire, they will be punished with the Fire of Hell.

Allaah created the jinn from fire, but they are not fire now. There is a great deal of evidence to that effect, such as the following:

1 – It was narrated from ‘Aa’ishah that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was praying, then the Shaytaan came to him and he seized him, threw him to the ground and strangled him. The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Until I felt the coolness of his tongue on my hand. Were it not for the prayer of my brother Sulaymaan, he would have been tied up this morning so that the people could see him.” Narrated by al-Nasaa’i in al-Sunan al-Kubra, 6/442; classed as saheeh by Ibn Hibbaan, 6/115

2 – It was narrated that Abu’l-Darda’ said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) stood (in prayer) and we heard him say: “I seek refuge with Allaah from you.” Then he said: “I curse you with the curse of Allaah,” three times, and he reached out his hand as if to take something. When he had finished praying, we said: “O Messenger of Allaah, we heard you say something in your prayer that we have never heard you say before, and we saw you reaching out your hand.” He said: “The enemy of Allaah Iblees came with a brand of fire to throw it in my face, so I said, ‘I seek refuge with Allaah from you,’ three times, then I said: ‘I curse you with the full curse of Allaah,’ but he did not go back, three times. Then I wanted to seize him, and by Allaah, were it not for the prayer of our brother Sulaymaan, this morning he would have been tied up and the children of the people of Madeenah would have played with him.” Narrated by Muslim, 542.

From these two hadeeths it is clear to us that the jinn are not fire now. This is indicated by the coolness that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) felt from the tongue of the Shaytaan, as stated in the first hadeeth. If the Shaytaan was still in the form of fire, he would not have needed to bring a brand of fire to throw in the face of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), and the children would not have been able to play with him.

3 – The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The Shaytaan flows through the son of Adam as blood flows.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari (1933) and Muslim (2175).

If the Shaytaan was fire, he would burn man, because the Shaytaan is inside him. So we can see the difference between the Shaytaan being fire and being created from fire.

If the Shaytaan were fire now – for the sake of argument – and Allaah wanted to punish him with the Fire of Hell, then Allaah is Able to do all things, and He is not incapable of anything, may He be glorified and exalted.

When the people of Paradise enter Paradise, they will abide therein forever and never leave it. Similarly the people of Hell will abide therein forever and never leave it.

It says in Fataawa al-Lajnah al-Daa’imah:

With regard to Paradise, it is the abode of reward on the Day of Resurrection for those who believed and did righteous deeds. In it there are whatever delights people could desire. In it there is what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, nor has it ever entered the mind of man. Those who enter it will enjoy real pleasures in both a physical and a spiritual sense, and they will live there forever. It will never cease to exist and they will never leave, and their joy will never come to an end, and they will have nothing to disturb their joy. This is according to the definitive texts and the consensus of the scholars and believers. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“The description of the Paradise which the Muttaqoon (the pious) have been promised: Underneath it rivers flow, its provision is eternal and so is its shade; this is the end (final destination) of the Muttaqoon (the pious), and the end (final destination) of the disbelievers is Fire

[al-Ra’d 13:35]

“Truly, the Muttaqoon (the pious) will be amidst Gardens and water-springs (Paradise).

(It will be said to them): ‘Enter therein (Paradise), in peace and security.’

And We shall remove from their breasts any deep feeling of bitterness (that they may have). (So they will be like) brothers facing each other on thrones.

No sense of fatigue shall touch them, nor shall they (ever) be asked to leave it”

[al-Hijr 15:45-47]

“This is a Reminder. And verily, for the Muttaqoon (the pious) is a good final return (Paradise), —

‘Adn (Eden) Paradise (everlasting Gardens), whose doors will be opened for them.

Therein they will recline; therein they will call for fruits in abundance and drinks;

And beside them will be Qaasiraat-at-Tarf [chaste females (wives) restraining their glances (desiring none except their husbands)], (and) of equal ages.

This it is what you (Al-Muttaqoon — the pious) are promised for the Day of Reckoning!

(It will be said to them)! Verily, this is Our provision which will never finish”

[Saad 38:49-54]

“Friends on that Day will be foes one to another except Al-Muttaqoon (the pious).

(It will be said to the true believers of Islamic Monotheism): My worshippers! No fear shall be on you this Day, nor shall you grieve,

(You) who believed in Our Ayaat (proofs, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and were Muslims (i.e. who submit totally to Allaah’s Will, and believe in the Oneness of Allaah — Islamic Monotheism).

Enter Paradise, you and your wives, in happiness.

Trays of gold and cups will be passed round them; (there will be) therein all that inner-selves could desire, and all that eyes could delight in and you will abide therein forever.

This is the Paradise which you have been made to inherit because of your deeds which you used to do (in the life of the world).

Therein for you will be fruits in plenty, of which you will eat (as you desire)”

[al-Zukhruf 43:67-73]

And it is proven in the Sunnah that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “A caller will call out – i.e., to the people of Paradise – ‘You will be healthy and never fall sick; you will live and never die; you will stay young and never grow old; you will feel joy and never feel sorrow.’” Narrated by Muslim.

It was also proven that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Death will be brought, in the form of a black and white ram, on the Day of Resurrection. Then the command will be given to slaughter it, then it will be said: ‘O people of Paradise, it is eternal and there is no death! O people of Hell, it is eternal and there is no death!’” Narrated by Muslim in his Saheeh.

Allaah has confirmed that both Paradise and Hell are eternal and will last forever, and that the believers will abide in Paradise forever and the disbelievers will abide in Hell forever, in many verses of the Qur’aan.

Allaah has created Paradise and its creation is complete, because He says in a hadeeth qudsi: "I have prepared for My righteous slaves that which no eye has seen…" And because the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) saw it on the night of the Israa' and Mi'raaj, and because of other proofs (daleel).

Will any humans enter it before the Day of Resurrection?

There are two aspects to this:

1. Entering it in spirit only, as is the case with the dead. This is proven in the case of the Prophets, and of the martyrs (shuhadaa') whose souls are in the crops of green birds which roam about in Paradise. This is also known from the ahaadeeth in which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) describes how he entered Paradise in dreams, which has to do with the soul or spirit.

2. With regard to entering Paradise in both body and soul, this will happen on the Day of Resurrection for both humans and jinn. The only exception to this is Adam (peace be upon him) who was in Paradise before he came down to this earth, as was mentioned by Ibn al-Qayyim and others. And Allaah knows best.

We (You and Me) never existed before 100 years nor will exist after 100 years. If you consider that you sleep 8 hours a day, it is one third of the day and calculation for the whole life it will be one third of a person’s age. Hence there is no time to waste time in vain talks and disputes. Help the poor and do good to your parents and be thankful to God, He gave you free, the air you breathe, the water you drink, fruits and vegetables, most importantly your Life for free. Our life is a continuous exam until we meet God and it is when he will question you for your time, youth , money , actions etc . People reject God but can they escape Death? . Don’t forget you are nearing your death every second.

Do you know that the same person and his wife is mentioned in Holy books of Hindus, Muslims, Jews and Christians. Here its is …

He is called Brahma by Hindus, Muslims call him iBrahim, Jews and Christians call him aBraham . His wife is called SARA by Muslims, Christians and Jews and interestingly SARAswati by Hindus .

You can see these two words Brahm & SARA repeating in all of them.

All Mankind have a common origin..a same father and same mother. If people realize this people will love each other never fight each other.

Allah is not the God of Muslims only but Allah is the God of all people whether they are Hindus, Muslims, Jews and Christians.

It is just like the case of a Muslim woman sometime back (possibly in the US) who refused to get herself photographed for a driving license without taking off her veil, turning the whole thing into an issue. It is one of those things some Muslims use to get undue attention just as was in the recent case of one "Muslim" traveler who insisted to pray on the floor of an airplane in flight near the emergency exit gate. Such stray incidents would continue to occur all over the world and should not be used as yardstick to measure the belief and thinking of the entire community. I agree with Brit that if the children were that sensitive, they should not have been taking lessons from a female teacher let alone be in a class where there were females studying with them.

Yes there is a rule of not shaking hands with a "non mahram" ..

However, if a person ops to live in a society where Islam is not the main religion, then you have to adapt to and respect their their customs / culture..

As an aside - These boys say that they can't shake the teache's hand because of religion - But the same religion forbids them to be in mixed company ... do they adhere to that also ?

Brit, Just like you are afraid of ISLAM, many others are. But the more they try to suppress Islam and Islam will rebound with full swing.

Now the Whole of Switzerland and all those in this forum know the Islamic Rule that it is not permissible for a Muslim to shake hands with a woman who is not related or to shake hands with someone not permitted by God. The have learned an Islam lesson.

There is an apprehension in the west that excessive influx of Muslims is causing harm to their way of life. It is partly true. The example is Sharia councils in UK. Sometimes their rulings contradict with British values.

It is not actually about shaking hands. There is much more to it. It is always better to be in the mainstream than being secluded.

Possibly. Had it been just one single issue, it would have been shrugged off by everyone including you and me and died its own natural death as people would not have bothered at all. But it is not happening that way. KHAN: Herein lies the problem.. Islam is a religion of peace and muslims are accepted all over the world as they migrate.. Islamophobes use language line "they are coming to take over" to scare people ...

By saying "A lot of Muslims from Iraq, Syria have entered the whole of Europe. The New kings will be chosen from among them. Then see how the world change." - you are just playing into their hands

By acchabaccha• 26 May 2016 10:23
acchabaccha

Britexpat: I agree not just "western" women. There is a country from South-east Asia where women follow the trends in attire from the west. That is because they were and are under the influence of a world power and also have a religious affinity. However, the women from this country still maintain a level of decency in their attire in respect of local customs and traditions and do not cross the lines. There lies the difference -- a major difference.

All This will change. The world is in Islamophobia state now trying to oppose Islam in all its effort. But Islam is coming to you whether u accept or reject. A lot of Muslims from Iraq, Syria have entered the whole of Europe. The New kings will be chosen from among them. Then see how the world change.

Always remember a candle that is going to die will burn fast. Let them try to suppress Islam and Islam will rebound with full swing. All these rulers will be replaced soon.

Have you seen or heard the Qatari rules of wearing proper clothes in public being enforced? Just sit on the bench near Starbucks on the mezzanine floor at the City Center for 30 minutes and quietly watch how the western females openly flout the rules of local culture through the dresses they wear. Last Saturday I was there waiting for a friend when I saw teenage western girl coming down the stairs. One could see e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g she was trying to display!

As for the minarets? Switzerland is a western country which boasts of "freedom" like other western countries. doesn't it? Just where is that "freedom?"

By britexpat• 26 May 2016 09:52

I would agree that Switzerland is veering to the right in its actions regarding muslims..

However, I do feel that the boys and their father are trying to make a mountain out of a molehill.

The cultural norms of the country we live in have to be respected and adhered to.. Otherwise , don't go there if you deel so strongly...

As for Qatar not prosecuting those in mini-skirts or skimpy clothes... That is a choice that Qatar makes.. We know the rules / guidelines when we come here .. If we flout them , then we should be open to prosecution..

Are the churches in Qatar allowed to have steeples? No, because they are banned. Kind of like banning minarets in Switzerland.

By acchabaccha• 26 May 2016 09:31

Wunae: Qatar is a more accepting and tolerant country to non-Muslims! I guess you got yourself mixed up a bit while typing your post. Muslim females do not wear min-shorts or see-through dresses in public. Where is t-h-at "freedom" the west boasts about?

By Wunae• 26 May 2016 09:23

By acchabaccha• 26 May 2016 09:06
acchabaccha

It is nothing new on the part of Switzerland. The country finds ways to humiliate Muslims and then use the media to highlight them. Switzerland is the only country in the world which thought that minarets on mosques resembled missiles and banned their construction. They also banned the wearing of "burqa" at public places. And now this incident where a "learned" judge was just too quick to punish some students for going against the country's culture by not shaking hands with females. My question is: How many times women in Qatar or in some other middle east countries been caught and punished for wearing mini-sized shorts or almost see-through dresses in public? Do they adopt the culture of the east or the country where they spend a considerable part of their lives? Guess the people of Qatar and many middle eastern countries have more tolerance than some countries in the west where they feel proud of projecting their "freedom" in almost all spheres of life.
