Indian embassy to shift to new premises
Plans are underway to shift the Indian embassy from its present location in the Old Hilal area to the Onaiza area (Zone 63) soon.
Though the exact date of relocation is not known, it is understood that the mission will be shifted to the new premise near the West Bay Petrol Station sometime in the middle of this month, reports Gulf Times.
On April 21, the embassy had put up a tender notice on its website, inviting bids for shifting the mission's furniture, computers and other things to Villa No.86 and 90, on Eithra Street in Onaiza area. The last date to submit sealed tenders was May 1.
Though efforts were made to contact the embassy officials for details, no one was available for comments.
Members of the Indian expatriate community that is estimated to exceed 600,000, have often aired their preference for the embassy to be located somewhere in the city, facilitating easy access to all.
Some of the community leaders said it was desirable that the embassy maintained a facility within the city to cater to the needs of the large Indian workforce and consular services.
I hope that Embassy will listen since our comments are posted in the well know local website and there might be a member in QL from Indian embassy might be watching our comments!!! Anyway I hope these poor lower income Indians will get help (fingers crossed)....
That makes sense - but will the Embassy listen ?
@ Brite Shifting Embassy to Industrial Area will be a nightmare to visit because of the traffic, roads etc., Suggestion: Indian Embassy can arrange an office / Agent in Industrial Area to receive and delver the documents.
Brite..@ even i believe what gawhar was trying to suggest.
I believe that the Gawhar is suggesting that lower income Indians , comprising a large number would find it easier if the Embassy was located in the Industrial Area.
They have difficulty affording transport costs , whereas others would not
@ ladyqueen- especially street 41, i dont know why govt discarded industrial area..
Gawhar probably not an indian, that is the reason...
If you go industrial area once, specifically east industrial area, you never say that. The common man has to go in hummer or land cruiser as the road gutter is transformed in to big big trunch, may a driver never sleep , if his next day trip is is to that way..
gawhar : where in the world are you living in to say such an idiotic statement?
ITS BETTER TO HAVE INDIAN EMBASSY AT INDUSTRIAL AREA.BECAUSE 95% INDIANS ARE WORKING THERE.IT WILL REDUCE 10 % OF TRAFFIC JAM ON DOHA ROADS & STREETS.
Congrats to the staff & everybody for their new office .........
