Animated movie “Zarafa” to be screened for Cinema under the Stars
Doha Film Institute’s (DFI) “Cinema under the Stars” is a friendly, open air programme that has reached quite a large number of audience. Especially with the present climate, chilling around in the evening with a good movie under the stars does sound appealing.
This time, DFI will screen the animated film Zarafa on Saturday, 7.30pm at the Museum of Islamic Art.
Zarafa is a French-Belgian film directed by Rémi Bezançon and Jean-Christophe Lie, and features voice-overs by Max Renaudin Pratt, Vernon Dobtcheff, Thierry Frémont and Simon Abkarian, among others.
Set in the early 19th century, the film narrates the story of Maki, a 10-year-old orphaned Sudanese boy who is sold into slavery, reports The Peninsula.
He escapes the slave trader and comes across a young giraffe. A Bedouin nomad comes to the rescue of Maki, who also names the giraffe as Zarafa.
The film follows a long journey through the desert, ancient cities, the high seas and finally to Paris, charting the adventures of the boy and the giraffe.
Screenings are free and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. For more details, log on to: www.dohafilminstitute.com
