Semifinal line-up for Qatar Total Open is ready
Poland’s Agnieszka Radwanska, seeded third, will meet Spain’s eighth-seeded Carla Suarez in the first semifinal of the Qatar Total Open at the Khalifa International Tennis Complex.
In the other semifinal, unseeded German Andrea Petkovic will match wits against Latvia’s Jelena Ostapenko.
Suarez Navarro entered the last four by beating Russian qualifier Elena Vesnina 6-3, 7-6 (3) while her compatriot Garbine Muguruza was shown the door by Petkovic 6-1, 5-7, 6-2.
Pole Radwanska came from a set down to win 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 against Italy’s US Open finalist Roberta Vinci.
Ostapenko sealed the last semifinal berth by getting the better of China’s Zheng Saisai 6-4, 6-3.
Meanwhile, in doubles, the world No.1 pairing of Martina Hingis and Sania Mirza lost for the first time in 41 matches, going down 2-6, 6-4, 10-5 to Russian pair of Vesnina and Daria Kasatkina in the quarters.
