Qatari athletes win overall title at Asian Indoor Championships

It was a great day for Qatar athletics as the nation clinched the overall title of the Asian Indoor Championships for the second time in a row.
The host nation topped the medal table with six gold medals, one silver and three bronze. China (5, 5, 3) and Kazakhstan (4, 2, 4) finished in second and third positions respectively.
Qatar’s Mohamad Al Garni added the 3,000M gold to his 1.500M win on the final day at the Aspire Dome on Sunday.
He powered home in a championship record time of 7:39.23sec, holding off the challenge of Bahrain’s Albert Rop, who finished one second back.
Al Garni also won the double over the same distances two years ago at the previous edition in Hangzhou, China.
Qatar’s Musaab Abdelrahman Bala won the 800M in another championship record (1:46.92) while the hosts also triumphed in the 4×400 men’s relay.
