Happy Birthday, Maradona of Qatar!

DOHA: Everyone please join your hands to wish a very happy 27th birthday to Al Sadd winger Khalfan Ibrahim, lovingly known to fans as the Maradona of Qatar.

The pocket dynamo, who is an indispensible part of Al Sadd Club as well as the national team, became the first Qatari to be chosen as the Asian Player of the Year in 2006.

Khalfaninho, as he is sometimes affectionately called, was key to Qatar’s winning the 2006 Doha Asian Games gold medal. Five years later, he helped his club Al Sadd win the AFC Champions League for the first time. On September 22, 2014, he became his club’s top scorer with 63 goals (at that time).
