If you're visiting Qatar but plan on working here, Qatari sponsors can replace an existing used visit visa with a new valid work visa for the same person.

Here's what you will need to do:

- Log in the online website of the Ministry of Interior.

- Select " Extend Visa " service.

- Enter the current visa number, you want to close, (consists of 12 characters) in the current visa number box.

- Enter the new visa number, you want to open, (consists of 12 characters) in the new visa number box.

- Pay the appropriate fees.

- The visa number, you want to close, should be used and the person should be inside country, while the visa number, you want to open, should be printed and valid to use.

- Person details in both visas should be matching.

Fees

- QR500, in addition to violation fine on the used visa (if any).

Visit Hukoomi e-government portal to start the above procedure.

If a husband cannot sponsor his wife he should leave Qatar immediately! That is, if his wife means anything to him.

There is a rule which says that company visas can only be transferred to companies, and personal visas can only be transferred to personal sponsors. Any woman who is here on a company visa must cancel the visa, exit Qatar, and then the husband can apply for a family visa.
