Expect strong winds and scattered rain today

The weather bureau has forecast strong winds at places across the country by noon today and said the day will be hazy to misty at places and could be partly cloudy to cloudy later.

There are also chances of light to scattered rains in some parts of the country.

Offshore, it will be cloudy, with chances of scattered rains.

The wind will be southwesterly and move at less than 10 knots but later it will turn into northwesterly, meaning that it will be coming in from the colder areas of Europe, and will move at speeds of between 10 and 18 knots.

The wind speed may increase to 25 knots at places, the bureau said in its routine forecast for today.

Offshore, the wind direction will initially be southeasterly with speed between 15 and 25 knots but by afternoon, the direction will change to northwesterly and speed to about 28 knots.

The maximum and minimum temperature forecast are 25 and 16 degrees C, respectively. In Doha, day temperature will be 24 degrees and night temperature 18. [The Peninsula]
