Human Stupidity Knows No Bounds!
Police say a kidnapping in South Carolina was thwarted because the would-be abductor couldn't operate a manual stick shift in the victim's car.
The Sumter County sheriff's office said in a news release that 27-year-old Demetri Nelson still had his victim's keys in his pocket when he was arrested Tuesday, several hours after the kidnapping attempt. Deputies say Nelson broke into a 53-year-old woman's home and demanded money, then told the woman to get into the trunk of her car, which he planned to drive to another house. But authorities say Nelson couldn't drive the car because of the manual transmission, and the woman used the emergency trunk latch to escape.
Deputies found Nelson and charged him with kidnapping and armed robbery.
Automatic transmissions are only useful for people who need one leg on the dashboard and one hand on the mobile phone. A real driver drives with both hands and both legs and shifts when the rpm is appropriate to catch the peak power of the engine. That's what I call driving.
In my country most cars a right-hand drive. A friend of mine shipped his left-hand drive car from here back home. An attempt to carjack was made in his city. The thief failed in driving the car away, got nervous, abandoned the vehicle, and disappeared into thin air.
