Reposting. Pls ban the sale of Sweka from residential areas

I am reposting this plea once again. Not sure what happened to all the comments that came yesterday. I can see 6 comments beside my post, but I am unable to view any of them when I click on the comments button. ...

......................................................................................................................................................

Ask anyone why there is a beeline to Al Wifaq street near Old Ghanim area and the answer is because of the sale of illegal chewy tobacco, called Sweka. Evey now and then, some of those who sell them are chased and caught by the men in uniform, but they continue to be released and they return like cockroaches, selling them once again with no regrets and with more experience on how to be evasive. Worst part is that they dont sell it from their house and instead use the premises of innocent bachelors living in that area. You cannot touch them simply becuase they wouldn't hesitate to get physical on you or they must be having good support from people sitting in high seats. They certainly have guards waiting at strategic points, who inform the sellers via mobie, of 'unfirendly faces' that are in the neighbourhood. I don't care where and how they sell them, but my plea is to pease ban their sale from residential areas, especially from the premises of bachelor residences. Just stand in that lane for some time and you will see a host of youngsters and high- profile men coming in big cars (private and official cars), sometimes alone or accommpanied by friends, wives and children to buy them. The number of people selling them have quadrupled in a short span, some even working on shift system.

It is high time the authorities take a note and take an action on this. I cannot believe this is happening in a country like Qatar. I don't think this practice of selling illegal stuff from residential areas is seen or tolerated even in third world countries. Would you allow this kind of illegal sale happen in front of your door step? I certainly don't think so!! I am sick and tired of sitting idle on this and I hope that whole place will be raided and closed down for such business, for good. I pray for good riddance to rubbish people like them.

From a concerned citizen.

If that falls in the wrong hands, then I might become the target rather than them. I dont know how long I can be parient on this, but I am hoping if something happens to me, then at least this post will be of some help to get me justice.

That's wishful thinking for now. The reality is that I see them everytime I walk in or out of my building and I sometimes I feel like picking the stuff and throwing it out on the road, but i am helpless. We tried changing the locks to the building, but they broke it when nobody was around. They wouldn't hesitate to break even anybody's head over this.

Brit, Their wives & GFs can bring them back to the healthy way of living ......... provided they { wives & GFs } really loved them { sweka users } from their hearts ...............

They should be put on 200 ML camel milk diet at 8 AM, 11 AM, then 2 PM , 5 PM & 8 PM ........... as a test & see the results .......... I think with 1 Litre camel milk / day they will so sleepy that they will forget about sweka ........ & Alsharq will never be able to see them at Al Wifaq street ..........

I don't care where and how it is sold (legally or illegally). I just want a ban on selling this Sweka from the premises of bachelor residences. It is so annoying and frustrating to seeing the sellers and buyers hanging around my doorstep, talking loudly, making a mess of the place, causing unwanted traffic jams; and no action being taking to stop this from happening.

MM: Chewing Tobacco is quite common in many countries. I believe it was only recently banned in USA because of the dangers of mouth cancer.

There is a background for each story ........... These fellows may have lost something in their lives , their dreams were not realized due to some circumstances ........... so they had turned to Al Wifaq street get alternative support from sweka ........ otherwise they are as good as you & me .......

So are you now suggesting that Sweka be legalised like cigarettes and sold in shops ?

Haa Haa Haa.... I like the humor with the posts appearing more than once.

About talking to Sweka users, it the same like talking to any Cigaratte smoker, asking him the reason for their attraction to Cigarattes? The answer is simple... "Addiction". but when Cigarattes can be brought in and sold legally, so should this Sweka. Why so much hush hush about Sweka and why not sell it from the stores instead of the premises of bachelor residences? They are just like the many other topics here. Creamy at the top but full of crap under it

We need to talk to a few sweka users in a friendly manner & know the reason of their attraction towards sweka ......

We will ask them why sweka has become part of their precious life ?

I don't see yesterdays comments appearing on my screen anymore. Not sure why? That is why I reposted it again today. They were all for ban I guess or still under the impression it is impossible thing to be happening here. As for the jobs, we all know one thing, it is the expats who are paid less and asked to do more, while the others who get 'paid well', continue enjoy the perks of it, owning more than 1 houses and cars; and doing whatever the heck they want

Chewy tobacco is called Sweka here and the so-called ban, is just a eyewash. It is sold heavily on Al Wifaq street in Old Ghanim area. I am not sure where this comes from, but certainly they must be have a helping hand at the gates otherwise the flow would not have increased in such a tremendous way. Whoever is involved in this, brings in the raw material, then make it into smaller sachets and sold from the premises of innocent bachelors residences. It is up to the authorities to work on this tip and act on it . One drive on that street on a 4WD and you will not be surprised at how many people will approach you to sell that. You want to know another reason why it is so popular? It is due of the ban of cigarettes in public building and government offices. They chew on this stuff instead.
