Taken 3 - It Ends Here (Time to give the franchisee a rest)
While the original Taken movie was simply awesome (who would've thought Liam Neeson would make such an awesome action star?), the sequel was ho-hum. And when I heard a third part was out, I dreaded going to the theatre.
But the eternal optimist in me said 'What if I was wrong?'
You know what? Next time, listen to your head and give your heart a rest.
Though the writers tried to take the story in a different direction this time, it largely falls flat. Some of the stunts are still cool, but come on, this is Taken. You need to inject more originality than that.
Maybe, just maybe, if the movie had come out a few years later, one could've forgiven it's makers for the attempt. They could've also had a stronger script. But this sequel, with the tag line 'It Ends Here,' should have ended even before it was conceived. It was just a result of the greediness to rake in maximum moolah while Neeson was still fit.
A waste of QR35 and precious 109 minutes of my life.
P.S: I never thought I'd write this about a movie I loved so much, but that's another life lesson right there... Never love anything so much, especially if it's a movie franchisee.
