Qatar Natural History Group - Talk on "Hedgehogs in Qatar" - Dr Yamagushi.
The Qatar Natural History Group has been in existence since 1979 and endeavors to gain a greater understanding of the environment and local history here in Qatar. QNHG attracts prominent experts to make a monthly presentation to the group. Field trips lead by geologists, botanists, ornithologists, archeologists, etc. are also organized regularly.

Synopsis: The desert-adapted Ethiopian hedgehog (Paraechinus aethiopicus), which is also called "desert hedgehog" by some, may be more abundant in Qatar than we expect. However, their secretive nocturnal life style makes it difficult for many people to see them in their native desert landscape.
Speaker bio: Dr Nobuyuki Yamagushi, Assistant Professor at the Department of Biological and Environmental Science, College of Arts and Sciences, Qatar University, Dr Yamagushi began studying the species in 2007.
