More than 15,000 visitors from across the world are expected to flock to the Lusail Marina during the five-day Qatar International Boat Show at the scenic North Doha location starting on November 11.
The show is being held for the second successive year. About 75 cruises and yachts are arriving for the show compared to 45 participants last year.
Director of the show Pantelis Stathis said yesterday the organisers are expecting a nearly 50% growth in the number of visitors this year compared to the first edition last year.
The exhibition received about 10,500 visitors in November 2013, according to the organisers.
The show director said there were visitors from 62 countries last year. The organisers did not elaborate if they were mostly residents of different nationalities in Qatar or from outside.
This time the exhibition will be spread over approximately 10,000 sq m, said Stathis, while adding that more than 500m of the Marina is booked by the visiting yachts and cruises for berthing during the expo.
Exhibitors from 15 countries including Italy, USA, UK, France, Germany, France, Poland, Turkey besides Qatar are expected to showcase their products and services.
The show director said there is a growth of 20% in the exhibition space compared to last year's show. The boats participating in the show are in varying sizes between 7m and 40m.
This year 57% of the participants are from abroad, said the organisers. Last year, approximately 51% of the visitors were from abroad.
